10 of the Best Activities in Whistler
Truly unmissable ways to make your Whistler holiday perfect
The opportunities for activities off the slopes in Whistler are endless, but with the help of our friends at The Adventure Group, we've rounded up 10 of the best for adrenaline junkies, serenity-seekers, families and foodies alike.
We've been lucky enough to try some of the fantastic options below for ourselves, and the ones we haven't are most definitely on our to-do list!
Superfly Ziplines

Starting with a 4x4 climb up Rainbow Mountain, Superfly Ziplines provides a network of treetop trails and boardwalks connecting multiple dual lines for you to soar through old growth forests and mountain valleys. Victoria Davies, Tour Co-ordinator says "it allows you to see the area from an entirely different and wonderful perspective and to boast afterwards about having gone on the longest tandem zip in Canada!"

Snowmobile Tours

From fresh tracks to family tours and from exploring rainforests to glacial lakes, these snowmobile adventure tours are among the best in the world. Ben Corke, Marketing Executive says "my highlight was pushing the snowmobile to its max on a deserted frozen lake! Away from the skiing in Whistler, if you fancy getting your adrenaline pumping then snowmobiling is a must-do."

Heli Sightseeing

The heli-sightseeing tours are a simply breathtaking experience of Whistler Blackcomb from the heights for those who don't fancy taking on the ski descent. We recommend the 24 minute BC Experience. Matt Pavitt, Managing Director who did the tour in 2017 says it's "a fantastic flight, giving a bird’s eye view of Whistler Blackcomb and the surrounding mountains, including Black Tusk and Cheakamus Glacier, before landing on a 12,000-year-old glacier on Rainbow Mountain."
Scandinave Spa

Perfectly energising and relaxing at the same time, Scandinave Spa offers a profoundly enriching spa experience. Operating a policy of silence, the hydrotherapy works by rotating between the different temperatures of the spa baths. This cleanses the body, stimulates blood circulation and releases endorphins. Finish up in the relaxation area and enjoy the sense of well-being it brings. Kirstin Thatcher, Operations Supervisor, who visited on Boxing Day 2016, says the experience is "really quite magical. I recommend the experience to all of my customers, make the most of your flexi-day off skiing and rest those weary ski legs!"
Tasting Tours

What better way to find out what's on offer from Whistler's many restaurants than a tasting tour? These are guided walking tours where guests enjoy a delicious multi-course experience with each course provided by a different restaurant. The four tours explore locals' favourites from lunch to dessert and drinks, and from hidden gems to a selection of award-winning fine dining. Claire Jones, Operations Manager, tried the Finer Things Dinner Tour in 2017 and says "the quality of food was high, the experience was fun and the wine pairing was delicious and good value for money. One of our group also got to try Champagne sabering in the Bearfoot Bistro!"
Bungee Jumping
One of the most scenic places in the world to try bungee jumping, the site in Whistler Resort Valley is nestled between old growth forests and rugged basalt column cliffs. Its jump masters have over 17 years of experience and a 100% safety record. Matt Pavitt, Managing Director, who did the tour in 2018 says it's "an exhilarating adrenaline rush that’s hard to match. It’s an unforgettable experience, as you jump 160 ft (50 metres) over the glacial-fed Cheakamus River."
Vallea Lumina
New for 2019/20 - a multimedia twilight walk follows the footsteps of two old-time hikers to explore the hidden wonders of a secret valley, where it's said that stardust falls from the sky and illuminates everything it touches. Legends linger among the trees (don't be surprised if they talk) and clues are left to help explorers find their way to the valley. This is a truly magical adventure and at the very top of our list of Whistler activities to try...
Snowshoe Tours

The Adventure Group's Snowshoe Tours range from serene walks for first-timers through the old growth forests to invigorating treks for intermediates on Whistler's backcountry trails. Guided by wilderness experts you'll learn not just about your beautiful surroundings, but how to survive in them too! It's not all uphill as the tours utilise the gondola, and you can even pair a snowshoe tour with a visit to Scandinave Spa. Kathleen Lang, Tour Co-ordinator, visited in 2018 and says "There is something really special about being out in the elements, immersed within the snow-topped trees, taking in all the fresh air and having a good workout at the same time."
Audain Art Museum
Celebrating artistic difference in British Columbia spanning the late 18th century to the present day, this striking museum is a work of philanthropy. Don't miss The Dance Screen by James Hart or the wonderful collection of 19th and 20th century First Nations masks. Open every day except Tuesday from 10am to 5pm and until 9pm on Fridays, 18 years and under visit free.
Forged Axe Throwing
For those with excess energy after a day on the slopes, you can unleash your inner lumberjack with Forged Axe Throwing! These are action packed axe throwing sessions which will teach you how to throw an axe and hit the bullseyes in a surprisingly short time. Drop in for an hour and learn safety, a series of games, trick shots and compete for your place as the champion axe thrower in your group. Whether you’re a first timer or an experienced timber sports veteran this is simply huge fun!
