Over Three Metres of Snow in Two Weeks - 2020 is DEEP

The snowiest resort in our programme right now, and possibly the snowiest resort in the world, Snowbird has received 767cm to date. A lot of that has come in January, with snorkel-deep skiing all month long.

Jackson Hole tops the 2020 chart with 340cm in 15 days. It's the snowiest first two weeks of January on record and the deepest base by this point too - you'd have to go back a decade to even come close. Consistent daily snow has created some of the best skiing conditions ever in the legendary resort. They even received a rare bit of blue sky midway through the fortnight...

Nearby in Grand Targhee they're dubbing it 'Snowmaggedon' after 272cm in 14 days (following on from a less-than-stellar November and December). It certainly has the locals excited!

After a bit of a lull in December, winter has hit hard at Timberline Lodge & Ski Area (Mt Hood) this month. Last week, technology issues meant skiers couldn't print tickets or pick up season passes and with all the powder outside, the resort took the decision to hand out free day tickets to get everyone on the mountain!

All the fresh snow has allowed neighbouring Mt Bachelor to open the Northwest chair, but conditions mean that a buddy system is in place - so much for no friends on a powder day!

In Utah, Powder Mountain is earning its name with 74cm of snow this week. Limited skier numbers means more pow per person than you'd get anywhere else!

Park City enjoyed a rare bluebird day after close to a metre of snow this week - how could you not smile?

Steamboat's 2020 stats make for some impressive reading - 76cm of snow in one week and 12 days of snow (incuding 10 powder days) since 1 January.

It's fair to say that British Columbia hasn't enjoyed the greatest winter so far - but that's all changed now. Revelstoke is now at 676cm thanks in part to 76cm in two days. Did you know that Revelstoke holds the record for Canada's snowiest ever winter? The resort received an unprecendented 2,447cm in 71/72.

Whitewater employees have been praying to Ymir for fresh snow and he really has delivered, with fresh snow on 15 out of 16 days in January, including 122cm this week.

It's 17 January and Castle Mountain is just one or two storms away from eclipsing last year's end of season total. 88cm just this week.

It's been 17 days of non-stop powder now in Fernie. With five alpine bowls to explore, that's a lot of snow to enjoy.

It's very cold in the Okanagan right now, but that has come with serious amounts of snow. 102cm in Big White this week has taken the season total to 472cm.

Of all the British Columbia resorts, Whistler perhaps suffered the most from a lack of early-season snow, but Richard was lucky enough to be out there when it started to fall hard. The resort is now at 451cm and most of that has fallen in January!

Richard flew straight from Whistler to Niseko and he appears to have taken the snow with him, as it's another resort that is now providing daily powder after an unseasonably slow start. Andrea and Kenji joined him to take advantage of the newly opened backcountry gates earlier this week.

Scandinavia's snowiest resort Myrkdalen continues to deliver the goods - 127cm this week taking the season total just shy of four metres.

An hour's drive away, Voss has a magical winter coat after 85cm of fresh snow. Not quite at the same levels as Myrkdalen but a 285cm total is still more than respectable!
