The votes have been counted... The team have had their say... Find out who's come top in the 22/23 Ski Safari Customer Photo Competition as we count down our top 10 snaps from last winter.
The bar has been raised again this winter as our customers submitted hundreds of pictures capturing their 'Ski Safari moments'.
All of the team loved looking through and voting for their favourites. Some photos got us nostalgic, some tugged on the heartstrings, but ultimately all of them reminded us why it is we do what we do - strive to provide the perfect ski holiday.
After three rigorous rounds of voting by the Ski Safari team, we have our top 10 entries and the all-important winner below.
10. 📷: Jacqui Skoyles
📌: Alyeska, USA

Heli-skiing in Alyeska is a heart-racing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Jacqui’s photo reminds those of us lucky enough to have tried it of the anticipation of waiting for the heli to pick you up for the next perfect powder run. We wish we’d been there!
9. 📷: Barbara Dale
📌: Tromsø, Norway

It’s not always the skiing or snowboarding which provides that ‘Ski Safari moment’. A magical winter experience can happen off the slopes and Barbara’s husky sleigh ride through Tromsø’s backcountry is a shining example.
8. 📸: James Hurford
📌: Big White, Canada

It’s a g-g-ghost! These snow ghosts are Big White’s signature winter party trick and are usually found above the treeline. Thankfully the runs around the glades cater for most abilities, so it’s possible for everyone to get a glimpse of these rare snow formations. We liked how James showcases the scale and size of the snow ghosts.
7. 📸: Benji Ripley
📌: Whistler, Canada

Have you ever seen an ice halo while skiing? This natural wonder was taken in Whistler by Benji. Some fantastic landscape photography skills are on display here. We didn’t think it was possible, but it makes Whistler look even more spectacular!
6. 📸: Robert Marks
📌: Hemsedal, Norway

There’s no better feeling than having a mountain covered in fresh powder all to yourself, which is probably why our team voted this in at number six. With accessible off-piste terrain, Hemsedal is ideal for anyone new to ungroomed skiing. Robert reminded us in the office of that feeling of cruising through untracked snow.
5. 📸: Rebecca Ralph
📌: Geilo, Norway

With 25cm of fresh snow on Rebecca’s arrival day in Geilo, her family got their wish of a white Christmas, not to mention additional snow falling on Christmas day to set up the slopes to look like this.
4. 📸: Rebecca Bradford
📌: Narvik, Norway

How many parks have views like this? Rebecca’s son is catching some big air to get a proper birds eye view of Narvik! The resort has plenty of fun blues and reds and, as you can see, is surrounded by gorgeous views of the fjord below.
3. 📸: Sarah Moffatt 🥉
📌: Flåm, Norway

Sarah’s striking photo from her cruise through the fjords to Flåm really caught our attention. The team were impressed by the perfect mirroring of the mountains reflecting off the fjord. It’s so still, we bet you haven’t noticed the water from the fjord is at the top of the picture!
2. 📸: Nicholas Steel 🥈
📌: Niseko, Japan

Niseko is famous for its light, dry powder and Nicholas has given us a great point of view when charging through the treeline on uncrowded powder through one of the resort’s famous backcountry gates. All the skiers in the office cherish that initial drop into a run covered with fresh snow. That combined with the blend of white and brown scenery helped Nicholas take second spot.
1. 📸: Olly Bradford 🥇
📌: Narvik, Norway

Olly Bradford has captured that ‘on top of the world’ feeling you can only get on a skiing holiday in the mountains with gorgeous views of Narvik’s fjord accompanied by a bright orange sunset. A well-deserved winner!
We asked Olly about his family's experience of Narvik and what inspired him to capture the special moment at the Narvikfjellet restaurant.
"Narvik is a photographer's dream (even for an amateur like me) - skiing down to just 50m above sea level is a unique experience, and with the slopes opening at 1pm until 8pm, there is none of the usual mad morning rush to get the kids out to ski school and nurse any hangovers on the slope from the night before!
But the main bonus is skiing at sunset, which with the water of the Ofotfjord providing stunning reflections and light, means beautiful vistas and powder-spray shots are much easier to frame.
The photo we took was on the cantilevered balcony of the Narvikfjellet Restaurant, at 656m above sea level, with the backdrop of the arctic sunset and Ofotfjord behind.
We had actually hiked up the mountain after a day of skiing, which was an experience in itself. If you want 100s of km of slopes, this is not the resort for you - if however you are looking for a unique experience, with a variety of slopes, and all the bonuses the Arctic has to offer, including the northern lights, then this is a fantastic place to visit."
There's plenty to immerse yourself in on and off the slopes in Narvik. With views of a sun setting over the Ofotfjord, it's hard not to take a moment and admire the scenery if Olly's picture is anything to go by.
Congratulations, Olly - We hope you enjoy £500 off your next skiing adventure!
