Free Private Ski & Snowboard Lessons in Norway

We are convinced that Norway is the best place to progress your skiing and snowboarding and that private lessons are the right way to do it. So we’ve teamed up with three Norwegian resorts - Gausta, Myrkdalen and Voss - to offer free private lessons in January 2025*.

Norway's forgiving terrain and snow-sure conditions make it the perfect place to learn and the country's excellent English-speaking instructors will make your lesson a real feature of your winter holiday.

You'll receive one private lesson (120 minutes in Gausta, 100 minutes in Myrkdalen and Voss) per person to use as you choose, with options for all abilities from complete beginners taking their first turns to more adventurous skiers looking to enhance their skills on or off piste.

Don't worry if you have mixed abilities in your group - the free private lesson for each person solves this. Or if you’re of the same level, you can combine your lesson allowance. For example, two people of the same level could share one instructor and receive two free private lessons.

With new skills learned, you won’t just have more fun on the slopes, you’ll also significantly increase your skiable terrain for future holidays.

• Gausta: 7 nights self-catered at the 3* Lake View Cabins from £1,000pp, based on 4 adults sharing a 3 Bedroom Cabin. Includes one 120 minute private lesson per person worth £156pp.
• Myrkdalen: 7 nights half board at the 4* Myrkdalen Hotel from £1,125, based on 2 adults sharing a Standard Room. Includes one 100 minute private lesson per person worth £129pp.
• Voss: 7 nights bed & breakfast at the 4* Fleischer's Hotel from £955pp, based on 2 adults sharing a Standard Room. Includes one 100 minute private lesson per person worth £138pp.

The beauty of private lessons is that they're tailored to exactly your requirements - just like our holidays! But here are some ideas of what you could cover in your free lesson:

• Learn to ski - cover the basics in the fastest time, getting to grips with the fundamentals and learning enough to set off on your own.
• Parallel turns - if you already have the fundamentals covered, learn better control through turning with parallel skis.
• Carving - learning how to properly use your edges to ski will significantly improve your flow and speed on the mountain.

• Steeps - take on even the most challenging pistes by learning how to adjust your skiing for steeper terrain.
• Off-piste - learning how to ski powder and ungroomed snow is a real game changer - increasing your amount of skiable terrain by two or even three times in some resorts.
• Freestyle - work on your park skills and take on bigger jumps and more difficult tricks.
• Snowboarding - all three resorts offer snowboard coaching too, whether you're looking to improve or try it for the first time.

One of Norway's best-kept secrets, Gausta is an up-and-coming ski resort offering truly unique skiing and sightseeing experiences you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Gausta ski holidays offer everything you'd expect in Norway - exceedingly high levels of service, ski-in ski-out accommodation, terrain for all abilities and an excellent ski school. But it's perhaps best known for the iconic Gaustatoppen mountain which towers over the resort. You can take a secret train up through the mountain and then ski back down - an experience you'll never forget.

Relatively undiscovered and blissfully uncrowded, Myrkdalen offers gentle, quiet slopes for beginners and untracked off-piste for the adventurous.

If you’re an expert skier, don’t let the small piste area put you off - there's more off-piste terrain than you might expect. For beginners, the quiet slopes are ideal for building confidence, while intermediates can look forward to some of Europe’s best snow on the wide cruisey runs. Make sure you take a day off the slopes to visit the nearby fjords!

Just 30 minutes from Myrkdalen also in the heart of Western Norway's fjords, Voss combines a fantastic all-abilities ski area with a buzzing historic town, connected by a state-of-the-art gondola.

The broad and gentle runs at the top of the mountain cater well for beginners, while for confident skiers, we love the thigh-burning Horgaletten downhill. And if you’re into off-piste, Voss is renowned for its powder! This historic town has nurtured more Winter Olympic athletes than anywhere else in the world, so you can be assured that it's a good place to improve your skills.
