Dating back to the 1600s, Tokiwaya Ryokan is a part of Nozawa Onsen history. This traditional ryokan is located at the heart of the village next to the O-Yu. All rooms are tatami rooms sleeping on futon beds, which is the true Japanese experience. Rooms all have ensuite facilities, but the highlight of any stay in a ryokan is a visit to the onsen (hot springs).
The property is a 5 minute walk to the Yu-Road, which is a moving walkway to bring you to the Hikage Gondola.
Please note, as with many older Japanese properties, Tokiwaya Ryokan still allows smoking in the rooms, but all rooms are deodorised thoroughly after each stay.
