Northstar's ski season is long and has historically retained a good snow record. With over 3,000 acres of skiable area - including the popular terrain parks - there’s something here for every ability level. When you combine this diverse skiing territory with the available array of off-mountain activities (such as ice skating, tubing and shopping), it's fair to say that Northstar skiing holidays are the perfect getaway for families and couples alike.

The resort has a selection of groomed and ungroomed areas. 60% of the mountain consists of groomed blue runs, making Northstar the best overall fit for intermediate skiers. For advanced skiers, steeper runs, tree skiing and glades are available, including the 347 acres of gate-accessed, exhilarating off-piste terrain on Lookout Mountain - the views from the top are just breathtaking!

The lift system is modern, with mainly high-speed chair lifts. You can access the resort via the Tahoe Local Pass or the Tahoe Value Pass. These value-for-money passes not only cover Northstar but also the nearby Tahoe resorts of Heavenly and Kirkwood, extending your skiing area by an additional 7,000 acres.

To the north of Northstar is Martis Valley and the historic mountain town of Truckee. Whilst small, Truckee seamlessly blends the old with the new, with a hint of the ‘Old West’, rooted to the town's establishment post-Gold Rush in the 1800s. Its chilled vibe and inviting hangouts are popular with many a snowboarder and skier. We love Truckee for its friendly atmosphere, affordability, and proximity to the resort. The town is brimming with a range of excellent local restaurants, bars and cafes - perfect for refuelling before exploring the surrounding mountains and Donner Lake.

Southeast of Northstar is the mighty Lake Tahoe, with striking turquoise waters edged with fir trees and sandy bays. When sugar-coated in snow, it’s a sight too beautiful to miss! There are ample trails and regional parkland to explore on foot or cross-country skis.

"Northstar is an intermediate skier's paradise with fast lifts and wide, long runs - Big Mountain skiing at its best! There are also some challenging areas for advanced skiers. Hit it on a powder day and you will be in for a treat. Oh... and the views of Lake Tahoe are amazing!"
